After the death of her husband, Sky Brewster seeks revenge against the man who killed him. However, having made a promise to her dying husband, she cannot go after the man herself. When the court system fails to punish the killer because of the victim’s relationship with the Indians, Sky decides to circumvent her promise to her husband by hiring the infamous bounty hunter known as The Limey to do the deed for her.
English bounty hunter Max Stanhope is surprised by the young beauty’s request, but having just found out that he needs a wife to claim an inheritance from his beloved uncle, Max offers to strike a deal with Sky…a marriage of convenience for the death of the murderer. After which they will part ways and have the marriage annulled.
Her need for revenge strong, Sky reluctantly agrees and the two head overseas to London to claim Max’s inheritance, but along the way it appears someone is out to prevent Max from doing so. As they travel overseas and return home, the threats continue as the couple gain even more enemies along their journey. With the list of suspects growing with every adventure they take, thanks to Max’s reputation and Sky’s temper, the two must protect themselves at every turn.
As the two travel together, they also realize that maybe a marriage of convenience is not what they want after all. However, both are haunted by memories of the past that threaten their budding relationship.
Pale Moon Stalker grabs the reader’s attention from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the very end. With vivid descriptions and fascinating characters, the author brings the story to life as the hero and heroine take us on an exciting journey.
Max and Sky are a captivating couple. Both are in need of healing that only the other can provide, yet they are reluctant to allow themselves to fully open up to one another. They must learn to trust one another and deal with the past. Through the help of the intriguing medicine man, True Dreamer, they both discover just what they want out of their relationship and the strength of their love. The author does a wonderful job of making one care for this couple and about the outcome of their bargain. I felt for each of them as they dealt with their insecurities and fears.
The twists-and-turns of the story held me captive as I anticipated what would happen next. There were many surprises thrown into the story and while I found some of the twists a little hard to believe, they definitely made the story more interesting.
A fantastic western historical, Pale Moon Stalker takes readers on a journey they won’t forget.
